How Festivals Enrich Society ?

India is a land of a thousand holy festivals and rituals. Its colorful panorama reflect the religion, culture and custom of one of the most ancient and richest of civilizations. Hinduism worships and celebrates the birth and victories of its deities and holy men through festivals and rituals.Through colors, sounds and profound sentiments it elevates and motivates the inner core of individuals. Its festive ambience invigorates and enthuses the individual from the monotony of daily life. This special section provides a window to the history, significance and experience of a selected number of annual festivals, rituals and customs in Indian culture. Like the golden sun, festivals refresh and recharge humanity in more than one way.
Aesthetically : Festivals are a poetry of arts and crafts, and encourage the latent talents of people.
Emotionally : Festivals lend joy and zest to the monotony of life, providing entertainment and enrichment through discourses and seminars, music and melodies, dances and rhythms of a meaningful life.
Socially : festivals bring man closer to man in peaceful understanding. Social harmony is nourished as people of different nationalities, races, religions and backgrounds come together to share their joys and delights.
Morally : Festivals promote higher and better life. Guiding masses away from drugs and addictions, hatred and violence, they nourish the values of service, sacrifice, discipline, unity and cooperation - restoring man's moral dignity.
Culturally : Festivals retrace old traditions and strengthen our cultural roots by providing deeper insights.
Spiritually : Festivals inspire and consolidate faith in God. An atmosphere of purity and prayers elevate the soul and helps generate a feeling of universal brotherhood, inter-religious harmony and personal piety.

Drama Games by Swaroop

We have a great time with Mrs. Swaroop Sampat in the new programme named LIFESKILL THROUGH DRAMA at G.C.E.R.T., Gandhinagar.
I want to share the games that are basically for Drama but by reflection of Swaroop turn them to use in Education. So now they are not only Drama games but also educational games!

Game no. 1-
WALKING & STATUE:
The facilitator says the students to walk in different directions…rather say here and there …
Then the F. says to walk as they are going to his/her maternal uncle’s house. The students will show their enthusiasm and walk at that time the F. says statue to them. The students stops.. The F. touch 1 students ‘s shoulder and free only him/her and say to observe others faces.. As the student Will Find that they are happy..
As second time, The F Says to walk like they haven’t done home work and it is sure they are punished by the teacher and they are going to school.. Do the same
Say statue after some time and release the students one by one and make him/her to observe others emotions..
By this game he students will learn to identify their and others’ emotions.
Most exceptional thing in this game is that the students are never hesitate because they are not going to see one another’s faces as they are walking here and there!
So try this game.. Give your comments and I will add some more games as time goes…

Never Ask WHY mE?

Arthur Ashe, the legendary Wimbledon player was dying of AIDS which he got due to infected blood he received during a heart surgery in 1983. From world over, he received letters from his fans, one of which conveyed: "Why does GOD have to select you for such a bad disease"? To this Arthur Ashe replied: The world over -- 5 crore children start playing tennis, 50 lakh learn to play tennis, 5 lakh learn professional tennis, 50,000 come to the circuit, 5000 reach the grand slam, 50 reach Wimbledon, 4 to semi final, 2 to the finals, When I was holding a cup I never asked GOD "Why me?". And today in pain I should not be asking GOD "Why me?" Happiness keeps u Sweet, Trials keep u Strong, Sorrow keeps u Human, Failure Keeps u Humble, Success keeps u Glowing, But only God Keeps u Going!!!!

Let's Laugh

Bolke to dekho!

(1)
If you understand, say "understand".
If you don't understand, say "don't understand".
But if you understand and say "don't understand".
How do I understand that you understand? Understand
(2)
I thought a thought.
But the thought I thought wasn't the thought I thought I thought.
If the thought I thought I thought had been the thought I thought, I wouldn't have thought so much.

The story behind 3idiots

Rajkumar Hirani's 3 Idiots starring Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor,
Sharman Joshi, Madhavan and Boman Irani has gone on the floors. The
film is loosely based on Chetan Bhagat's novel Five Point Someone. The
first teaser poster of the film is out and has a huge blackboard with
mathematical formulae scribbled on it.
The cast
The cast of 3 idiots include:

HARI - MADHAVAN
The first characters of the novel are Hari – who is shy and wants to
be handsome like Ryan. Hari is average and is bad at vivas.. He falls
in love with his professor's daughter and whenever Hari tries to
impress his professor, he brings down his image.
RYAN - AAMIR KHAN

The second student is Ryan, he is handsome and adventurous and he
always says that he loves his friends more than his parents and he
don't want to mug up things and he gets low grades, in the college
exams .He wants to do things in his own way and he tries to do that
and he too gets into the five pointers.

ALOK - SHARMAN JOSHI
The third is Alok-A simple boy who wants to get good grades and earn
money to overcome poverty of his family.

PROFESSOR KURIEN – BOMAN IRNAI

NEHA KURIEN (DAUGHTER OF PROFESSO) – KAREENA KAPOOR

Work in progress

Sources reveal that Hirani doesn't want to give away the look of his
protagonists soon, which is why the teaser doesn't have any of the
actors in it. However, work on the film is underway and Hirani plans
to wrap 3 Idiots by December.

Begins September

The source adds, "The shoot of the film with the supporting characters
has already begun, Hirani and his
team are in Simla and the
film is scheduled to be shot in Ladakh, Delhi , Bangalore and Mumbai
as well. Aamir and rest of the cast will begin shooting in early
September."

Shantanu Moitra has given the music for 3 Idiots while the lyrics are
by Swanand Kirkire.

Class is on

Apparently, author Chetan Bhagat was the first to see the poster and
quite liked the final result. "Since the setting is that of an
engineering college campus the poster had to have elements of a
classroom."

The poster has been designed by Rahul Nanda.
